Álvaro Arbeloa was hoping to bounce back in Germany after his stint on the Real Madrid bench, but his future won’t be unfolding in the Bundesliga.

According to Bild, his profile was indeed put forward to Bayer Leverkusen, who are searching for a new manager to reignite an ambitious sporting project after a disappointing season. However, the German club’s hierarchy quickly dismissed this option.

The club feels Arbeloa still lacks the experience to lead a team competing on multiple European fronts. Leverkusen now favors a more established coach, someone able to deliver immediate results. As for the Spaniard, he continues his search for an opportunity to truly launch his career as a head coach at the highest level.
