Manchester City: Djibril Cissé's strong reaction

In recent hours, Djibril Cissé has reacted angrily to the accusations calling into question the refereeing in the match that enabled Manchester City to claim the title in 2012 (a 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers, who were leading 2-1 when stoppage time began).

The former French player was invited to respond to the suspicions of corruption targeting the match referee. Djibril Cissé firmly rejected this interpretation of events. “I can’t let you say such bullshit,” declared the former AJ Auxerre striker.

He also added: “Let’s organise a proper meeting to discuss it. Because there’s no way I’m going to keep accepting your bullshit. So, let’s do it.” Now a consultant, Djibril Cissé defended the referee’s integrity and called for people not to turn contentious refereeing decisions into accusations of corruption without concrete evidence.

This firm stance highlights the frustration of the former France international (41 caps, 9 goals) with the debates that followed the match and the suspicions surrounding Manchester City’s title triumph.
