Manchester City: Jérémy Doku extends contract until 2031

Manchester City secures the future of Jérémy Doku. The English club officially announced this Thursday, August 13, the contract extension of the Belgian winger, now tied to the Citizens until the summer of 2031. This decision rewards the progress of the 24-year-old since his arrival from Stade Rennais in the summer of 2023 and confirms his place in the plans of new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Jérémy Doku quickly adapted to the Premier League. In his very first season, he made his mark with his speed, dribbling, and ability to beat defenders. During the 6-1 victory over Bournemouth, he especially caught the eye by becoming the youngest player in Premier League history to provide four assists in a single match while being involved in five goals overall.

In his debut campaign for Manchester, he played over 40 matches, scoring 6 goals and delivering 11 assists, helping City clinch a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

His second season was disrupted by two injuries, but the Belgian still finished with 8 goals and 9 assists.

A standout 2025-2026 season

Last season was when Doku took his game to another level. More consistent and better attuned to Manchester City’s style of play, he delivered several standout performances and was decisive in City's successful Carabao Cup and FA Cup runs.

In the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton, he played a crucial role in the 2-1 win, providing an assist and directly contributing to the equalizer.

Across the entire season, he racked up 47 appearances, 8 goals, and 14 assists. Key goals against Liverpool, Chelsea, and Everton also highlighted his campaign.

But his impact goes beyond the numbers. Capable of playing on both wings and sometimes centrally, Doku especially brings the ability to take on defenders and destabilize opposing backlines.

Five trophies with City

Since his arrival, the Belgian international has helped the club win five major trophies: the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and the Community Shield.

In total, Doku now boasts 131 appearances and 22 goals in a Manchester City shirt. With Belgium, he has earned 48 caps and played a key role in the Red Devils’ run to the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup.

Maresca counts on him

This contract extension comes as Enzo Maresca takes the reins at Manchester City. Doku expressed his excitement about working with the Italian manager, whose playing style, in his view, perfectly matches the squad’s strengths.
