Manchester City: Omar Marmoush's future remains completely uncertain

Head coach Enzo Maresca has opened up about the future of Omar Marmoush at Manchester City.

Asked about the Egyptian international's future at Manchester City, Enzo Maresca stopped short of guaranteeing the player will remain at the club this season. “The answer has to be similar to the one I gave about James Trafford. Players work every day, they want to play, so when they don't play, they're not happy,” the Italian manager admitted.

Brace against Atlético, Omar Marmoush speaks out

On Sunday, Manchester City overpowered Atlético Madrid in a friendly thanks to a brace from Omar Marmoush. After the match, Marmoush explained that his sharpness in front of goal was largely due to his determination to make better use of space inside the box. “I had three or four chances when Savinho and Semenyo were dribbling and giving me the ball, but I wasn't in the right place. In the second half, all I had in my mind was to make more runs and be present in the box. They did their job and we won. It was a really good feeling,” he told Manchester City's official channel.

He added: “Obviously, as a striker, it gives you confidence and helps you find your rhythm. All I had to do was tap the ball into the net, and of course I want to thank Antoine. This gives me confidence during preseason. I feel good.”

Marmoush also touched on the squad's efforts to absorb the new tactical instructions: “We're trying to learn the new tactics, the automatisms, and what the coach expects from us. I think we're starting to get the hang of it.”
