Manchester City: Rodri's three criticisms of Real Madrid revealed

As several media outlets have reported in recent days, Rodri has decided to join FC Barcelona, despite being heavily linked with Real Madrid for a long time.

For now, the Catalans need to reach an agreement with Manchester City, who are demanding €70 million for their player. Negotiations are ongoing between the parties. However, Sport remains confident that the transfer will go through. The best player of the 2026 World Cup is thus expected to don the FC Barcelona shirt.

Up until last week, Rodri was close to pulling on the iconic white jersey of Real Madrid. But the captain of La Roja changed his mind. In fact, Radio Marca, via journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon, revealed the three criticisms Rodri made of Los Merengues.

"After the World Cup, the player was contacted and a meeting took place between José Ángel Sánchez, Real Madrid's representative, and Rodri himself. During this meeting, Rodri said he was ready to sign for Real Madrid, but he raised three decisive objections. The first criticism aimed at Real Madrid was that they took too long to move for him. Then, there were many leaks suggesting that Florentino Pérez didn't want him. There was a third factor: Rodri had heard rumors about tensions in the Real Madrid dressing room. He was probably given the necessary explanations. Rodri laid out his demands and Real Madrid accepted them. The transfer was practically done. Rodri was ready to sign for Real Madrid until Barcelona showed they were more serious, and he ultimately made his decision.", the journalist revealed.
