Yan Diomandé is once again missing from the Madrid squad, despite the anticipation surrounding his debut under José Mourinho.

Yan Diomandé will have to wait a little longer before donning the Real Madrid jersey. José Mourinho has not included him in the squad to face Deportivo La Coruña on Wednesday, August 12, during the Teresa Herrera Trophy.

The Ivorian also missed the previous friendly, a win over Ferencváros (2-1). With no injury announced, this second consecutive absence could be due to his physical condition. Having just arrived, the player still needs to get up to speed and adapt to the demands of his new manager.

A record signing still being eased in

Signed from RB Leipzig, Diomandé has inked a deal running until June 2033. The transfer could rise to €140 million with bonuses, making him the most expensive African player in history.

The 19-year-old will wear the number 25 shirt. Last season, he tallied 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. In the Bundesliga, he recorded 12 goals and 8 assists in 33 matches.

A return expected against Espanyol

The La Liga season will kick off on August 14, but Real will play their first match on Saturday, August 22 at 21:30, away against Espanyol. If his fitness program goes as planned, Diomandé is likely to be included in the Madrid squad for this first official fixture.
