Manchester City won’t give Barcelona an easy ride for Rodri

Despite reaching an agreement with FC Barcelona, Rodri remains held back by Manchester City, who are reportedly demanding €70 million before allowing his departure.

The Rodri saga is far from over. According to Marca, Manchester City have turned down an initial offer estimated at €50 million. FC Barcelona, who could increase their bid to €60 million, are still facing the firm stance of the English club’s management, determined to secure at least €70 million.

A meeting between Deco and Hugo Viana, the sporting directors of both clubs, is set to take place soon. The Catalans hope to reduce the fixed part of the transfer fee by adding performance-related bonuses. Barça had already tried to outpace Real Madrid after securing the Spanish midfielder’s agreement.

Maresca expects Rodri back in Manchester

Despite ongoing negotiations, Enzo Maresca still expects to see his player return. “Yes, for now, he’ll be in Manchester. There’s nothing new. On August 14, he’ll be back,” the Cityzens’ manager stated at a press conference.

Recently recovering from back surgery, Rodri must continue his rehabilitation before gradually resuming training. However, his return to Manchester does not mean talks with Barcelona are over.
