Kylian Mbappé has etched his name even deeper into the annals of French football history. With his brace in France's 3-1 victory over Senegal at the 2026 World Cup, the 27-year-old striker became the all-time leading scorer for Les Bleus with 58 goals, surpassing the previous record of 57 held by Olivier Giroud.

The record was broken in a festive atmosphere for the French squad. By netting twice against Senegal, Mbappé took his tally to 58 goals in just 99 caps—an exceptional strike rate that cements his status as the attacking leader of the French national team.

With this latest feat, the French captain has definitively overtaken Olivier Giroud and now stands alone atop the list of France's all-time goal scorers. He now leaves behind several legends of French football, including Thierry Henry, Antoine Griezmann, Michel Platini, Karim Benzema, David Trezeguet, and Zinedine Zidane.

A World Cup made for him

This clash with Senegal also allowed Mbappé to add another prestigious line to his already glittering résumé. By finding the back of the net, he has now scored in each of the three World Cups he's played: 2018, 2022, and 2026.

The French striker now boasts 14 goals in World Cup finals, making him the top French scorer in the history of the competition. This achievement puts him alongside Lionel Messi among the tournament's greatest marksmen and brings him closer to the all-time record held by Miroslav Klose.

At just 27 years old, Mbappé continues to shatter records and appears poised to add even more to an already extraordinary career. His meteoric rise only further cements his place among the greatest players in the history of world football.
