Mohamed Salah cited for a driving offense in Liverpool (Details)

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah—formerly of Liverpool and currently with Trabzonspor—was issued a speeding ticket after leaving Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah, the former Liverpool forward, has been handed a six-month driving disqualification following a speeding incident involving his Rolls-Royce. Court records show that the Egyptian international did not say who had been driving the Rolls-Royce when a speed camera clocked it at 36mph in a 30mph zone along a road in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on March 27 — a period when he was still turning out for Liverpool.

Details of the infraction Mohamed Salah faced at Liverpool

According to a court spokeswoman, the captain of the Egypt national team was prosecuted at Warrington Combined Court under the Single Justice Procedure — a process in which magistrates hold private hearings — and was convicted of failing to supply information identifying who had been driving the Rolls-Royce. As a result, he received a six-month driving disqualification along with an order to pay $1400 (£1000), a figure made up of an $883 (£660) fine, $160 (£120) in court costs, and a $353 (£264) victim surcharge.

The Express reports that the speeding incident took place only two days after Salah announced he would be leaving Liverpool, bringing an end to nine years with the club. When his departure was confirmed on 24th March, Liverpool described him as having "firmly established himself as one of the greatest players in Liverpool's history."

During his time at Anfield, Salah scored 257 goals across 442 appearances, before completing a summer move to Turkish side Trabzonspor. He has since struck seven times in eight outings in all competitions, while also chipping in with two assists.

Reflecting on the victory over Galatasaray, new manager Thomas Reis remarked: "We have teammates who are much more experienced than me as players, who have gained a lot of experience. We have players who have played at the Champions League level, at very top levels.

"Of course, they are also very valuable players. They made incredible contributions. Naturally, I am very happy to be Mohamed Salah's coach. But at the same time, our defensive players, our midfielders, everyone did a great job. They helped him a lot."
