Morocco or Senegal? The "white wizard" makes his pick

As a guest on the show “Talents d’Afrique”, broadcast on Canal+ Afrique, Claude Le Roy shared his analysis of the latest Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025).

A passionate admirer of African football, the “White Wizard” is an iconic figure in Africa’s premier competition, having made his mark across the continent.

Responding to a question about the best team of the last AFCON, Claude Le Roy had this to say:

Throughout the tournament, I think Morocco was the best team. However, in the final, Senegal was superior. In my view, the Atlas Lions looked exhausted after spending so much energy in their semi-final against Nigeria.

As a reminder, Senegal clinched the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a narrow victory over Morocco in the final, thanks to a goal scored by Pape Gueye.
