Durban is poised to take centre stage once again. According to IOL, the 2026 MTN8 final — a showdown between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates — is expected to be staged at Moses Mabhida Stadium, though the Premier Soccer League has yet to make the venue official.

A massive final in a distinctive stadium

Monday evening will bring the final draw, settling which side carries the home-and-away designation into the October 10 showpiece. Behind the scenes, however, IOL understands that Durban’s iconic ground is the likely destination.

Should the PSL confirm it, the occasion would mark a tenth MTN8 final held at the venue — a milestone that would only stretch its own record as the most-used ground in the competition’s history.

The possible return carries extra significance. Moses Mabhida, a relic of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, has been undergoing refurbishment and rehabilitation work since 2024, with the eThekwini Municipality estimating the broader project’s cost at around R284 million.
