Naples: Romelu Lukaku's agent opens up about the player's future

While Romelu Lukaku's future continues to generate buzz in Italy during this summer transfer window, his agent Federico Pastorello has stepped in to clarify the situation.

Speaking to Sky Sport, the player's representative addressed rumors suggesting Lukaku could end up as a backup at Napoli—a scenario he finds hard to imagine. This is especially true given that Romelu Lukaku was the savior for Rudi Garcia's Belgium during the 2026 World Cup.

"Could he be a substitute at Napoli? Obviously not. He’s an extraordinary player who has proven it, one of the most prolific strikers in the world. We can hardly accept such a situation. Of course, there might be a hierarchy at the start, but the pitch is the ultimate judge. Romelu is not the type to stay where he isn't wanted. We’ll try to find a solution. Honestly, I can't picture Romelu as a number two. Manna’s (Napoli sporting director) comments may be financially motivated. The transfer market is currently at a complete standstill," explained the agent of the former Chelsea striker.
