Netherlands: Wesley Sneijder disagrees with Xavi’s appointment
Another criticism of Netherlands head coach Xavi. Wesley Sneijder is not convinced by the circumstances that allowed the Spanish coach to take charge of the Dutch national team.
Speaking to Ziggo Sport, Wesley Sneijder denounced what he considers an inconsistency on the part of the KNVB regarding the qualifications required to become a coach. “Xavi obtained his A, B and Pro coaching licences in four weeks. I find it rather strange that they chose a head coach who does not meet the requirements of the Dutch federation itself,” he explained.
According to Sneijder, the KNVB had until then required a course lasting several years and had told him that an accelerated programme was no longer possible because of UEFA rules. The former Inter midfielder criticised the policy applied by the federation.

It should be noted that Sneijder interrupted his coaching course in 2021 after a disagreement with the KNVB, from which he was demanding a more tailored programme for former top-level players. “I wish Xavi well, and the KNVB too, but I find it strange,” he insisted.
