Ødegaard moves closer to a new deal with Arsenal
Talks between Arsenal and its captain Martin Ødegaard (27) are progressing over a new contract, as the London club intends to continue its journey with the Norwegian midfielder.
Arsenal want to extend Ødegaard’s contract
According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Arsenal have received several approaches from European and Saudi clubs in recent months regarding a potential transfer for Ødegaard.
The English club did not pursue those approaches and is now working on a contract extension with improved terms for its captain.
Ødegaard is currently under contract with Arsenal until June 2028, but the London club have already begun talks to extend his deal.
The Norwegian joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021 for around two million euros before making his move to the London club permanent a few months later for 35 million euros.
Ødegaard has also made a convincing start to the season, scoring four goals in eight appearances in all competitions.
Arsenal’s captain was nevertheless injured in the ankle during the match between Norway and Portugal last Sunday, following a challenge from Bernardo Silva in the final minutes of the encounter.
