Official: Fabinho joins Mohamed Salah
Fabinho is set to reunite with Mohamed Salah in new colors. Trabzonspor has officially announced the signing of the 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder, who was a free agent following the end of his contract with Al-Ittihad. The former Liverpool player has penned a two-year deal with the Turkish club.
An experienced addition for Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor beat out competition from several interested clubs, including Olympiakos and Fluminense, to secure the services of the Brazilian international. The Turkish side has pulled off a shrewd financial move, as Fabinho arrives on a free transfer. The defensive midfielder will bring a wealth of experience after his stints in Europe and Saudi Arabia.
Last season with Al-Ittihad, the Brazilian featured in 30 matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists. However, his arrival comes too late for him to feature in Trabzonspor’s upcoming Europa League qualifier against Ferencváros. The Turkish side will have to overturn a one-goal deficit on their trip to Hungary.
Reunion with Mohamed Salah
Fabinho’s transfer also allows the Brazilian to reunite with Mohamed Salah, his former teammate at Liverpool. The duo shared the Reds’ dressing room from 2018 to 2023, winning several major trophies together, including the Champions League and the Premier League.
Fabinho, whose full name is Fábio Henrique Tavares, also boasts experience from his time at Monaco and Rio Ave. He also spent time developing in the Real Madrid Castilla setup.
