Official: Joey Veerman joins Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund have secured a new addition to their midfield. The German club has officially announced the signing of Joey Veerman from PSV Eindhoven, with a transfer fee of €22 million.
An experienced reinforcement
At 27, Joey Veerman is leaving the Netherlands for the first time after spending four seasons at PSV. With the Eindhoven club, the midfielder played 198 matches, scoring 31 goals and providing 67 assists. His technical profile and passing range convinced Dortmund, who were looking to bolster their midfield following the departures of Pascal Groß and Salih Özcan.
Sporting director Lars Ricken also explained that the planned shift of Emre Can to central defense made it even more crucial to strengthen this area. Veerman has signed with Borussia Dortmund until June 30, 2031.
A move that underlines Dortmund’s ambitions
The Dutchman also brings valuable European experience, with 22 Champions League appearances. He has 16 caps for the Netherlands, though he hasn't been called up since 2024. However, how he adapts to the Bundesliga will be crucial.
Above all, his arrival takes Dortmund’s summer recruitment to an impressive new level. Before Veerman, the club had already invested in several young talents, including Giannis Konstantelias and Konstantinos Karetsas.
