The Qatari club Al-Arabi announced on Sunday, January 4, the official signing of Cameroonian striker Karl Toko Ekambi, aiming to boost their offensive line for the second half of the 2025-2026 season.

The 33-year-old Cameroon international joined the Doha-based club after mutually terminating his contract with Al-Fateh (Saudi Arabia), paving the way for a new adventure in the Qatar Stars League.

Al-Arabi made the striker's arrival official on their (X) social media platform, sharing photos of the player along with the caption: "The Cameroonian Ekambi joins the ranks of Al-Arabi... Welcome to the people's club."

A reinforcement to cover the absence of Yazan Al-Naimat

The club clarified that Toko Ekambi's signing is intended to fill the void left by Yazan Al-Naimat, who suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury while representing Jordan at the Arab Cup in Doha. This injury will sideline him for an extended period.

This season, Toko Ekambi played 10 matches for Al-Fateh, scoring one goal without providing any assists.

After joining Saudi Arabia in the last summer transfer window following his departure from Al-Ettifaq, the Cameroonian forward also played for Abha. He brings with him significant European experience, having featured for Villarreal in Spain and Olympique Lyonnais in France.
