Substituted after suffering an injury during the 1-1 draw against Le Mans at the Allianz Riviera on September 5, 22-year-old Antoine Mendy suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his left knee.

Successful surgery

A few days after his injury, the Senegal international, who has seven caps for the Lions, underwent surgery. In a statement published on its social media accounts, OGC Nice announced that the operation had been successful.

“After suffering a cruciate ligament tear against Le Mans on September 5, Antoine Mendy underwent successful surgery this week. OGC Nice once again offers Antoine its full support and will do everything possible to assist him at every stage of his rehabilitation, until his return to the pitch.”

Long road back to action

The 22-year-old defender now begins a lengthy recovery period and is expected to be sidelined from Ligue 1 and the Senegal national team for several months
