Senegalese coach Pape Thiaw is making a resounding success of his tenure at the helm of the "Lions".

In just a few months, he has achieved all his objectives, starting with qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals, and then clinching a spot in the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025).

An outstanding performance from the former FC Metz player, who has established himself as one of the top coaches on the continent.

In 21 matches in charge of the Senegalese national team, the Dakar native has recorded 17 wins, 3 draws, and just one defeat.

During the Pape Thiaw era, the Lions have scored 49 goals while conceding only 8, averaging more than two goals per match.

The former ASC Niarry coach will now be aiming to go deep into the 2026 World Cup, hoping to replicate the feat achieved in 2002 by his predecessor, the late Bruno Mitsu.
