Paraguay: CONMEBOL president takes aim at the French team
The president of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), Alejandro Domínguez, didn't hold back when addressing the French team after Paraguay's elimination.
France knocked Paraguay out in the Round of 16 at this 2026 World Cup. But according to Alejandro Domínguez, Les Bleus struggled against La Albirroja. "France was asking for the time," he quipped, before adding: "I didn't see the fantastic team everyone was talking about. They're a good side, no doubt, but they're not quite the team people make them out to be."
The South American chief, however, did praise the performance of Gustavo Alfaro's men: "We always play to win it all, there's no in-between. They earned everyone's respect. Let's keep dreaming big. Stay strong, football always offers a chance for redemption!"
