Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a €40 million move for Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, with Luis Enrique personally driving the push to bring the defender to Paris.

The Spanish coach is understood to be eager to work with Balde again, seeing him as the answer to a problem position that has troubled the club this season. Lucas Digne's move to the French capital has not gone as planned, prompting PSG to search for a more dependable option on the left side of defence.

Barcelona might not object to Balde's departure in January.

Barcelona, meanwhile, could sanction Balde's departure as early as January if his lack of regular minutes continues under the current setup. The Catalan club may view a mid-season sale as a chance to ease financial pressures while capitalising on an asset whose market value remains high. Much will hinge on whether Balde's playing time improves in the weeks ahead, but PSG appear ready to test Barcelona's resolve with a firm offer.
