Premier League: September’s Goal of the Month has been revealed! (Official)
After the player and manager of the month awards, the Premier League has also revealed September’s best goal.
The Premier League unveiled the winner of the Guinness Goal of the Month award for September on Friday. According to the English league’s official announcement, Lewis Dunk was rewarded for his superb long-range strike in Brighton’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Coventry City.
The centre-back found the top corner with a powerful effort from distance, a goal that edged out seven other strikes shortlisted by the Premier League. The result was determined by a combination of public votes and those of an expert panel.
Brighton sweep September’s awards
Dunk’s success completes a clean sweep for Brighton. Pascal Groß was voted player of the month, while Fabian Hürzeler won the manager of the month award. The Seagulls thus become only the fifth club in Premier League history to win the player, manager and goal of the month awards simultaneously.
This dominance rewards an exceptional September for Brighton, who notably recorded a resounding 3-0 victory over Arsenal and a comprehensive 5-0 win at Coventry.
The eight nominated goals
Harvey Barnes (Newcastle against Bournemouth)
Bryan Mbeumo (Everton against Manchester United)
Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Everton against Manchester United)
Bruno Guimaraes (Sunderland against Arsenal)
Lewis Dunk (Coventry against Brighton) — winner
Nicolas Jackson (Tottenham against Aston Villa)
Emiliano Buendia (Tottenham against Aston Villa)
Jay Dasilva (Nottingham Forest against Coventry)
Dunk succeeds Anthony Elanga, who was rewarded in August for his goal for Newcastle against Tottenham. Brighton thus continues its remarkable start to the season, with three major individual awards won in September alone.
