Born in France to a Senegalese father and a Moroccan mother, the 24-year-old was eligible to represent three nations on the international stage.

It's a source of pride... To be clear, I'm not yet a Moroccan international, but I want to become one... Morocco is my mother's country. I wanted to get closer to a culture I knew less about. I was born in France, my father is Senegalese, but there has always been a part of me that belonged to Morocco. As soon as I made this decision, I went there with my mother. And it was in Casablanca, seeing the looks, the smiles, people recognizing me in the street, that I truly felt Moroccan.

Sofiane Diop's season in numbers

In 38 appearances for OGC Nice across all competitions, the 24-year-old registered 6 goals and 8 assists.
