PSG: Luis Enrique becomes the king of finals

With PSG's crowning in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night, Luis Enrique keeps up his remarkable track record whenever silverware is at stake in a one-off final.

Indeed, after Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Aston Villa (2-1) in the UEFA Super Cup, the Spanish tactician has now won 17 out of the 20 finals he has contested in his managerial career. Since joining Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique has an almost flawless record: 10 wins in 11 finals.

Only Chelsea, in the 2025 Club World Cup (0-3), have managed to beat him at this stage of a competition with the Parisian club. The other two setbacks in the Spanish manager’s career date back to the 2015 Spanish Super Cup against Athletic and the 2021 Nations League with Spain against France.

Enrique aims for a third Champions League title with PSG

Already two-time defending champions, Paris Saint-Germain aren’t planning to stop now. Following the triumph over Aston Villa, the Parisian coach made it clear he intends to chase a third consecutive Champions League crown.

"Yes, that’s our mentality. We’re trying. We want to be ambitious. It will be very difficult. We don’t want to be selfish. But that’s our ambition," declared the Spanish tactician to the press. The last time a club achieved a Champions League treble was Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid between 2016 and 2018.
