Pyramids star Ramadan Sobhi avoids jail as Egyptian court suspends one-year prison sentence

An Egyptian court has suspended the one year prison sentence given to Ramadan Sobhi in forgery case allowing his release under probation conditions.

Court accepts appeal in forgery case

Egyptian footballer Ramadan Sobhi who plays for Pyramids FC has been granted major legal relief after the Giza Criminal Court accepted his appeal against one year prison sentence linked to forgery case.

The court decided to suspend the execution of the sentence for three years meaning Sobhi will not serve jail time unless new legal violations occur during that period.

The case involved accusations of falsifying official document at tourism & hotel institute in Cairo.

Authorities reportedly caught another individual sitting exam instead of Sobhi.

Release after legal procedures

Following the court’s decision, Ramadan Sobhi was cleared for release once the necessary procedures were completed.

The incident dates back to May when investigations into the alleged forgery first began.

The ruling allows the player to return to normal life outside prison but his football career remains affected by separate and more serious sporting punishment.

Doping ban still keeps him out of Football

Despite the suspended jail sentence, Sobhi is still banned from playing due to ongoing doping case.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS issued a four-year suspension after finding him guilty of manipulating doping sample.

The ruling followed positive test from sample taken on 3 April with CAS confirming evidence of tampering.

Because of this sanction, Sobhi remains unable to take part in professional football matches even though his criminal sentence has now been paused.

Club & Lawyer await next decision

Pyramids FC still hoping for Sobhi’s return if his sporting ban is overturned in the future. His legal team has already submitted appeal to the Swiss Federal Court which has authority to review certain CAS decisions.
