Rayo Vallecano: Beñat San José takes the helm

Rayo Vallecano has officially announced the appointment of Beñat San José as head coach. The Spanish tactician joins from SD Eibar, leaving the Basque club despite a recent contract extension. To secure his services, the Madrid side reportedly activated a release clause estimated at €400,000.

Beñat San José boasts a wealth of experience gathered in Spain, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Bolivia, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, and Mexico. Over the course of his career, he has clinched several trophies, including the King’s Cup in Saudi Arabia, the Chilean league title with Universidad Católica, and multiple honors with Club Bolívar.

He arrived at Eibar in February 2025 and took charge of the Basque side for 60 matches. His move to Rayo Vallecano comes as something of a surprise, especially since Jagoba Arrasate was widely tipped as the favorite for the job.
