Real Madrid: After Mbappé, Militão reignites controversy!

Éder Militão posted a photo on a bicycle a few days after the Mbappé controversy, as he continues to complete his lengthy rehabilitation.

Bicycles continue to make headlines at Real Madrid. A few days after Kylian Mbappé, Éder Militão has also been pictured on two wheels. The Brazilian defender posted a photo with his partner, with both of them sitting on electric bicycles.

The post comes in a particular context. José Mourinho recently explained on a podcast that he did not want to see his players ride bicycles, a statement that had already sparked many reactions when Mbappé filmed himself doing so. However, there is no indication that Militão was seeking to respond to his coach or intentionally fuel the controversy.

Militão imitates Mbappé a few days later

The footage could nevertheless prompt a reaction in Madrid. The 28-year-old defender is doing almost exactly the same type of activity as his French teammate, while Mourinho’s comments are still recent.

Militão’s situation is attracting even more attention because he is returning from a lengthy absence. The Brazilian returned to team training at the end of September, after several months away from the pitch.

Five months out after a serious injury

Militão was injured on April 21 against Alavés in La Liga. Tests revealed a rupture of the proximal tendon of the biceps femoris in his left leg. He underwent successful surgery on April 28, which notably ruled him out for the end of the season and the 2026 World Cup with Brazil.

His rehabilitation lasted approximately five months. Back with the group on September 28, the defender is now continuing to rebuild his fitness and is targeting a return to competition during November.

Real Madrid are still awaiting his return

Mourinho currently has several options at centre-back, but Militão’s return remains important in a season in which Real Madrid are competing on several fronts, notably in the Champions League.

While he awaits his official return to the pitch, his simple bicycle outing has therefore been enough to put his name at the heart of an unexpected debate. It remains to be seen whether the post will cause the same stir as Mbappé’s a few days earlier.
