Real Madrid: Riquelme stands by his promise for Haaland

Despite denials from Haaland's camp, Enrique Riquelme refuses to back down. The Real Madrid presidential candidate stands firm on his promise and still claims he can bring the Norwegian superstar to Santiago Bernabéu.

The Erling Haaland saga continues to fuel the Real Madrid presidential race. While candidate Enrique Riquelme declared that the Norwegian striker would join Los Blancos if he won the election, the player’s father was quick to shoot down the rumors.

Unfazed, Riquelme reaffirmed his stance in an interview with AS.

“It’s part of the game. You know that better than anyone. It was the same with Figo. Players need to be protected, we’ve already discussed this.”

Confident in the strength of his case, he even added:

“I’m very sure of myself, I won’t risk my professional or personal reputation.”

The candidate then raised the stakes, declaring:

“I’ve already said that if I don’t sign Haaland or Rodri, I’ll pay all the socios’ membership fees out of my own pocket—it’s notarized. Haaland has a release clause.”

This statement immediately reignites speculation about the Manchester City striker’s future.
