Yan Diomandé has barely set foot in Madrid, but the wait continues. The new Ivorian signing has not been called up for Real Madrid’s upcoming friendly.

Real Madrid continue their pre-season preparations under José Mourinho. After several intense training sessions, Los Merengues are set for their second friendly on Saturday, August 8, against Ferencváros. The match will take place at Ferencváros Stadion in Budapest at 5pm GMT (7pm local time), as confirmed by the Madrid club.

Yan Diomandé will have to wait a bit longer

The main takeaway from the squad list published on Friday concerns Yan Diomandé. Officially unveiled on Thursday and signed through 2033, the Ivorian international is not among the 23 players selected by Mourinho. Real Madrid and RB Leipzig agreed to a deal worth €115 million fixed, with a potential €25 million in add-ons.

His absence, however, comes as no surprise given his very recent arrival. The 19-year-old winger will first need to settle in and get through his initial sessions with his new teammates. Mourinho is already well aware of his potential, as the Portuguese coach personally approved Yan Diomandé as a top summer target for Madrid.

Goalkeepers: Lunin, Sergio Mestre, Javi Navarro.

Defenders: Trent, Álvaro Carreras, Rüdiger, Huijsen, Dumfries, Joan Martínez, Lamini, Mario Rivas.

Midfielders: Camavinga, Valverde, Arda Güler, Bernardo Silva, Cestero, Lacosta, Alexis Ciria.

Forwards: Vinicius Jr, Brahim, Endrick, Carlos Espí, Daniel Yáñez.

Several new signings are included in Mourinho’s group, notably Dumfries and Bernardo Silva. As for Diomandé, his debut will have to wait, as Real Madrid fine-tune preparations ahead of the 2026-2027 La Liga kick-off on August 15.
