Javier Tebas regards Kylian Mbappé as one of the main driving forces of La Liga, even going so far as to place the Frenchman at the very top of world football.

As a guest on After Foot on RMC, Javier Tebas was especially complimentary about Kylian Mbappé. According to the La Liga president, having the French striker at Real Madrid is a huge asset for the international profile of the Spanish championship.

Tebas puts Mbappé right at the top

The head of Spanish professional football left no room for doubt when assessing the level of Les Bleus' captain.

“Mbappé is one of the three best players in the world and, when he’s in top form, he’s the best player on the planet,” he stated.

This view isn’t entirely new in Spain. Just a few months ago, Jorge Valdano also named Kylian Mbappé the best player in the world, highlighting especially his maturity and performance level with Los Merengues.

The statistics also reflect the Frenchman’s impact since arriving in Madrid. With 25 league goals during the 2025-2026 season, Kylian Mbappé finished as La Liga’s top scorer for the second consecutive year, after netting 31 times in his first Spanish campaign. He’s now on a run of eight straight seasons topping the goalscoring charts in his domestic league, spanning both Ligue 1 and La Liga.

For Tebas, however, the stakes go beyond individual performances. In a league aiming to boost its global appeal, having a world superstar wearing the colors of its most high-profile club is both a sporting and commercial trump card.

The president emphasizes how crucial it is for Real Madrid to remain competitive:

“It’s a source of pride to have him playing for Real Madrid, and no one doubts what he brings to our league,” he added.

After two seasons in Spain, Mbappé has established himself not only as one of the main faces of Real Madrid but also as a central figure on whom La Liga can rely to maintain its global influence.
