Real Madrid: Yan Diomandé's price sparks controversy in Spain

Over the past two days, reports have emerged about an agreement between Real Madrid and Yan Diomandé. However, not everything has been finalized between all parties involved. The sticking point appears to be the Ivorian's transfer fee.

According to information from Sky Germany and The Athletic, there are still details to be ironed out for Yan Diomandé's transfer. Nevertheless, the €130 million deal is now entering its final phase. It's now only a matter of days before the Ivorian, who is just waiting for a total agreement to undergo his medical, dons the iconic merengue jersey.

Yan Diomandé's price under fire

Criticism is beginning to mount over what many see as an excessively high transfer fee. Journalist Gonzalo Miró did not hold back on COPE radio: "Barely ten days ago, he was completely unknown to the general public. Now he commands such a market value. His price skyrocketed because there was a real bidding war between the five or six clubs capable of signing him." Miró also admitted he was surprised to hear Diomandé being touted as Vinicius Jr.'s replacement.

On the same radio station, Siro Lopez questioned the role of player agents, notably Roc Nation: "Real Madrid is playing chess, and interestingly, Diomandé's and Vinicius' agents are the same." On El Desmarque, Roberto Gomez praised the representatives for pulling off such a deal: "We should probably sign his agent instead," the journalist quipped.

Yan Diomandé's price is clearly causing a stir in Spain.
