Romelu Lukaku gives his green light to Fenerbahçe

Romelu Lukaku has given his approval to Fenerbahçe's project. After talks with Aziz Yıldırım, the Belgian striker is now open to a move to Turkey. However, the deal still hinges on an agreement between Fenerbahçe and Napoli, who need to find common ground for the transfer to go through.

The Romelu Lukaku transfer saga is entering a decisive phase. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Belgian forward has given the green light to the project presented by Fenerbahçe and is now ready to join the Istanbul club. The negotiations have moved beyond the player's intentions and now focus on whether the Turkish side can convince Napoli to part ways with their striker.

Fenerbahçe's opening offer, reportedly worth €6 million, has already been turned down. Napoli are said to be demanding around €12 million, in part because a percentage of any future transfer fee is still owed to Chelsea. Meanwhile, reports indicate Lukaku has agreed in principle to a two-year contract worth around €10 million per season, with an option for a third year.

A striker coming off a strong season

Romelu Lukaku continues to demonstrate the kind of efficiency that has drawn Fenerbahçe’s interest. Since arriving at Napoli in 2024, the Belgian international quickly became a key figure in the Neapolitan setup. The Italian club highlights his contribution to Napoli’s Serie A title, including a crucial goal in the decisive match against Cagliari, as well as his role in winning the Italian Super Cup.

His time in Italy has further cemented the longevity of a striker who has excelled across several top European leagues. Before joining Napoli, Lukaku donned the shirts of Anderlecht, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion, Everton, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and AS Roma. In the Premier League, he netted 121 goals, placing him among the top foreign scorers in the competition’s history.

With Belgium, his record is even more impressive: 132 caps and 93 goals according to the latest available data.

Napoli wants to unlock its transfer market

For Napoli, the Belgian’s departure could pave the way for squad restructuring and free up resources for the rest of the transfer window. The Italian side still has several attacking options, but Lukaku remains a pivotal figure in their offensive lineup.

Fenerbahçe, meanwhile, are aiming to make a statement. Having already presented their project to the player, the Turkish club now needs to turn this agreement in principle into a finalized transfer.
