Senegal: Edouard Mendy slams CAF after Peru match
Edouard Mendy still hasn't digested the decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He made his feelings clear again on Saturday night after the match against Peru.
In the mixed zone, Edouard Mendy took aim at the Confederation of African Football, whose Appeals Jury awarded Morocco a win by default two months after the final.
"With CAF, we're used to it—unfortunately, we have an organization that's lagging behind the pace of football. People talk about winners and losers, but to me, the only losers are football and Africa. And the only one to blame is CAF. African football as a whole is moving ahead faster than its institutions. African football deserves better leadership. It's up to everyone in the game to take responsibility and do everything possible to ensure our governing bodies are as strong as our football," declared the Lion of Teranga.
As a reminder, Senegal has already filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in a bid to reclaim their title.
