This Tuesday, Patrick Vieira was officially appointed as the head coach of the Lions of Teranga, Senegal’s national team. Moussa Niakhaté took the opportunity to pay tribute to Pape Thiaw.

A key player for the Senegalese national team, Moussa Niakhaté had a busy Tuesday. He was taking part in the first leg of the Champions League play-offs against Fener, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. After the game, the Senegalese international defender was asked about the coaching change and paid homage to Pape Thiaw.

"Yes, I saw the news about Patrick Vieira. But first, I want to pay tribute to Pape Thiaw, because he took over the national team in difficult circumstances and led us to win the Africa Cup of Nations," said the Lyon defender.
