Senegal: a new demand from Pape Thiaw could drive up the FSF's bill
In Senegal, the financial dispute between Pape Thiaw and the Senegalese Football Federation continues to escalate. In fact, a fresh round of demands could push the bill far beyond what was previously claimed.
Although he was dismissed on July 12 following Senegal's elimination in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup against Belgium, Pape Thiaw has yet to receive his compensation. The Senegalese Ministry of Sports refused to cover the payment, arguing that the contract signed during the tournament had not received its approval as a third-party payer.

A few days ago, the former head coach issued a formal notice to the FSF demanding 423.8 million CFA francs, corresponding to unpaid salaries, bonuses, and various allowances. But that figure could rise. According to Sport News Africa, new claims are being added to this initial tally, potentially pushing the total bill to 843.8 million CFA francs—over €1.28 million. However, this amount is still a high estimate at this stage, not a final sum agreed upon by both parties.
So far, the FSF has not acknowledged the full amount being claimed, and unless an amicable agreement is reached, the case could end up in court.
