France national team: Zinédine Zidane already takes his first steps as head coach
Just two weeks after his official appointment as head coach of the France national team, Zinédine Zidane has begun preparing for his first training camp with Les Bleus.
Last Sunday, the new France manager was at Bollaert to attend the Trophée des Champions final, where Lens triumphed over PSG (1-0). It was the perfect opportunity for him to scout several internationals and potential call-ups, including Ousmane Dembélé, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué, Lucas Digne, Robin Risser, and Florian Thauvin. Accompanied by his right-hand man David Bettoni, Zizou made a statement as he kicked off this new French football season.
According to L’Équipe, the French coach also made a stop at Clairefontaine the previous weekend to get his bearings and lay the groundwork for upcoming challenges. Zinédine Zidane met with various departments of his future staff and set the foundation for the September get-together.
His first training camp will kick off on September 21, with four UEFA Nations League fixtures on the agenda: away in Turkey, in Belgium, then hosting Italy and Belgium at the Stade de France. The new manager will have nearly three weeks with his squad to gradually instill his philosophy and launch his tenure.
