The Zidane era begins: Date set for Zizou’s highly anticipated first France squad

Newly appointed France national team manager Zinedine Zidane will officially announce his first squad selection on Thursday 17 September marking the beginning of a new era for Les Bleus ahead of the 2026 /27 UEFA Nations League.

Inaugural squad announcement at FFF headquarters

According to French outlet Ouest-France, Zidane will unveil his maiden squad during a formal press conference at the French Football Federation (FFF) headquarters in Paris on 17 September, four days prior to the team reporting for their training camp on 21 September.

The 54 year old tactician officially succeeded Didier Deschamps on 28 July, committing to a contract running through June 2030.

The upcoming announcement has generated immense anticipation across the French football landscape, with domestic and European clubs eager to see which players earn call ups for the start of the post-Deschamps cycle.
