Hansi Flick sends a message to Barcelona supporters before Al Ahly showdown

FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has issued a rallying cry to supporters ahead of Wednesday's Joan Gamper Trophy encounter against Egyptian champions Al Ahly, urging the faithful to recreate the formidable home atmosphere that drove their domestic triumph last term.

Camp Nou fortress crucial for title ambitions

Barcelona will host Al Ahly on Wednesday at 19:00 GMT at the Spotify Camp Nou for their annual curtain raiser ahead of the 2026 /27 campaign.

Speaking to the club's official website, Flick highlighted the significance of returning to their home ground in front of a capacity crowd.

"It is our first match at home, with our fans and at the Camp Nou and that is wonderful" Flick stated.

Reflecting on the role played by the home support during the previous campaign, the German tactician added:

"Last season we won all our home matches and that was decisive in winning the La Liga title, with the backing of Barcelona fans. That is exactly what we need from them, not just for the Joan Gamper Trophy but for the entire season. We have a great team and we are ready to fight for everything"

Late returns & squad preparation

Flick also addressed the tactical adjustments required during pre season following a demanding international summer praising the application shown by his squad in recent training sessions.

"Eight players returned only a week ago, so we had to adapt.. I am very happy with what I have seen in training" Flick concluded.

Following Wednesday's Joan Gamper Trophy clash against Al Ahly, Barcelona will finalize their matchday squad for the opening round of La Liga. The Blaugrana will officially kick off their league campaign against Elche CF on Sunday 23 August at 20:30 GMT.
