Senegal: Patrick Vieira closes in on the Lions of Teranga bench

Patrick Vieira is now the frontrunner to become Senegal’s next head coach. The former Arsenal midfielder has reportedly given a positive signal to the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) and is showing real interest in the project.

Talks between Patrick Vieira and the Senegalese Football Federation have accelerated in recent days. The former French international, who has Senegalese roots, is said to have given his verbal agreement and is keen on taking charge of the Lions of Teranga.

The matter now awaits approval from the country’s highest authorities before entering the final phase. Once that hurdle is cleared, both parties can move forward with contract negotiations and assembling the future technical staff.

At 50, Patrick Vieira already boasts solid experience on European benches. He notably managed OGC Nice, Crystal Palace, and Strasbourg, and now looks to continue his managerial career with the ambition to take on a new challenge.
