Senegalese Ligue 1: Season set to resume on October 3, 2026

The official date for the return of Senegalese Ligue 1 has now been announced. The 2026-2027 season will officially kick off on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

"The LSFP announces that the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships will officially begin on Saturday, October 3," declared the Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP) in a statement released on its social media platforms.

However, the date for the draw has not yet been revealed. "The competition schedule and matchday 1 fixtures will be announced soon," the LSFP added.

Who will succeed Teungueth FC?

The 2026-2027 Ligue 1 campaign will once again feature 16 clubs. Promoted at the end of last season, Essamaye FC and Diambars step in to replace Sonacos and ASC Camberene, who were relegated to Ligue 2.

Reigning champions Teungueth FC will look to defend their crown. The club from Rufisque clinched the title after a fierce battle with Ajel De Rufisque, coming out on top thanks to goal difference (+15 versus +8) after both sides finished level on points (54 each).
