South Africa: Fernando Da Cruz appointed head coach of Kaizer Chiefs

The South African club Kaizer Chiefs has officially announced the appointment of Fernando Da Cruz as their new head coach. The French tactician has signed a two-year deal, with an option to extend for a further year, and will officially take charge on July 1, 2026.

Holder of the prestigious UEFA Pro License, the highest coaching qualification in Europe, Da Cruz is no stranger to Naturena. He previously worked briefly with the Amakhosi during pre-season preparations two years ago, before joining the Royal Moroccan Football Federation as technical director.

At the same time, the Chiefs have unveiled a new technical structure to support their new manager. Mahmoud Abbas will serve as assistant coach, while fellow Frenchman Julien Le Heran will take charge of the physical preparation and sports science department.

This appointment signals the beginning of a new era for the Amakhosi, who hope to reclaim their place among the elite of South African football under Fernando Da Cruz’s leadership. Further announcements regarding the technical staff are expected in the coming weeks.
