Spain: injured, Nico Williams leaves teammates (official)
Nico Williams is ruled out for the rest of Spain's matches during this international break.
Having started against England (2-3), then coming on as a substitute and scoring against Croatia (4-1), Nico Williams is already on his way to Bilbao. According to the Spanish national team, the young Spain international has been suffering from “pain in his left thigh” since Monday evening's victory over Croatia in the Nations League.
“Following the medical examinations carried out today by the Spanish Federation's medical services, it was decided to release him from the current camp so that he can continue his recovery process. The Athletic Club medical staff have been kept informed at all times about the player's progress, and he will continue his treatment and recovery under the supervision of his club,” the Spanish national team announced in its statement.
Head coach Luis de la Fuente has chosen not to replace him and will continue with a reduced squad of 25 players for the home match against the Czech Republic (October 3, 20:45) and the trip to Croatia (October 6).
