Spain: Luis de la Fuente once again takes a jab at Messi's Argentina
Spain clinched the 2026 World Cup title last Sunday after dominating the final against Argentina (1-0, a.e.t.).
Spain controlled proceedings from start to finish at the 2026 World Cup. Speaking to AS, La Roja coach Luis de la Fuente admitted that the gulf in class with the Albiceleste was quite evident.
"I didn't need to rewatch the final, but I felt that we were clearly superior. Four years ago, during my previous visit (to the newspaper’s offices, editor’s note), I didn't expect to get this far, but you build success step by step. With the resources we had, we were going to fight until the very end," declared the Spanish coach.
Under contract until 2028, De la Fuente could remain at the helm through to the 2030 World Cup.
