Villarreal has announced the appointment of Íñigo Pérez as the new head coach of their first team. The Spanish tactician has signed a three-year deal and will be tied to the La Liga club until June 2029.

Íñigo Pérez is the new manager of Villarreal. At 38 years old, the former Rayo Vallecano boss takes over the Yellow Submarine’s bench with the ambition of keeping the club among the powerhouses of Spanish football. His arrival was made official this Monday by Villarreal’s management, who will present their new coach this Tuesday at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Íñigo Pérez made a name for himself during his spell at Rayo Vallecano. Initially the assistant to Andoni Iraola, he took charge of the Madrid side in February 2024. Under his guidance, the club delivered impressive performances in La Liga, cementing his reputation as one of Spain’s most promising new-generation coaches.

Before embarking on his coaching career, the Pamplona native enjoyed a solid run as a professional footballer. Developed at Athletic Club, he also played for SD Huesca, RCD Mallorca, CD Numancia, and CA Osasuna, where he ended his playing career in 2022.
