Stade Rennais: Malian Issiaka Soukouna signs his first professional contract

Stade Rennais is betting on youth. With the new season approaching, the Breton club has announced the signing of Issiaka Soukouna to his first professional contract. The 19-year-old Malian U23 international defender is now tied to the red and black until June 30, 2029.

Issiaka Soukouna takes a major step at the beginning of his career. The Malian Olympic defender has put pen to paper on a three-year deal that keeps him at Stade Rennais until June 2029.

The central defender has already had a taste of first-team action at the end of last season, although he didn’t make an official appearance. That initial step paved the way for what’s to come. At just nineteen, Issiaka Soukouna is gearing up to experience Ligue 1 McDonald’s during the 2026-2027 season.
