Sweden: Alexander Isak leaves squad due to minor injury

Alexander Isak has left Sweden’s camp after suffering a minor injury. The Liverpool striker will return to England, where he will be examined by the Reds’ medical staff at the AXA Training Centre.

Alexander Isak will not take part in Sweden’s final three matches during this international break. The 27-year-old striker had nevertheless played the full match in Friday’s 2-0 Nations League win over Romania. He opened the scoring in the 20th minute.

Isak forced to leave Sweden’s camp

Liverpool confirmed the early return of their striker, citing a “minor injury” sustained during international duty. The club provided no further details about the nature of the physical issue or the length of his absence.

The departure comes as Isak had regained an important role in the Reds’ system. After missing a large part of the previous season following a leg fracture, the Sweden international has started every Premier League match played by Liverpool this season and already has four goals.

Liverpool awaits medical tests

The main issue now will be determining the exact severity of the injury and the possible length of his absence. Isak will be assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff upon his return to the training centre.

The Reds are due to return to action on Sunday, October 11, when they host Manchester City at Anfield. The results of the tests will determine whether Alexander Isak will be able to take part in this Premier League fixture.
