Liverpool FC saw their difficult start to the Premier League campaign compound after being held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest, marking the club's longest winless streak in the league since 2012.

A historic winless run

Following their opening 2-2 draw against Newcastle United, Liverpool replicated the exact same scoreline against Nottingham Forest.

This latest setback extends their winless run in the Premier League to six consecutive matches, a disappointing streak that carried over from the tail end of last season.

The poor run of form highlights a severe drop in the team's results, consisting of:

  • Two Defeats: Against Manchester United and Aston Villa
  • Four Draws: Against Chelsea, Brentford, Newcastle United and now Nottingham Forest

The Anfield curse

Adding insult to injury, Nottingham Forest continues to assert an unusual dominance over the Reds at Anfield.

For the third consecutive season, Liverpool has failed to secure a home victory against Forest in the Premier League.

Recent Anfield Head-to-Head vs Nottingham Forest:

  • 2024: Premier League | 0-1 Loss
  • 2025: Premier League | 0-3 Loss
  • 2026: Premier League | 2-2 Draw

The pressure is rapidly mounting on new manager Andoni Iraola. The squad is evidently struggling to adapt and find a new attacking rhythm following the departure of their talisman, Mohamed Salah, who led the frontline for the past nine years.

Iraola must urgently find a tactical solution to stop this bleeding of points, otherwise, Liverpool risks being entirely left behind in the early stages of the title race.

The defensive fragility at home, especially against a team they historically dominated prior to 2024, is a glaring issue that needs immediate addressing on the training ground.
