Al-Ittihad plot late transfer hijack

According to prominent Egyptian sports journalist Ahmed Abdelbaset, Al-Ittihad are exploring a dramatic late swoop for the dynamic midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

Writing on X, Abdelbaset revealed that intensive contacts are currently taking place behind the scenes to assemble a massive financial package designed to test Al Ahly’s resolve and convince the Cairo hierarchy to greenlight a sale.

The potential Saudi approach introduces a high stakes twist to Ashour's future, as Al-Ittihad possess the financial firepower to significantly outbid European competitors.

Ashour who joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023 from Danish side FC Midtjylland, remains under contract with the Red Devils until June 2028.

The 28 year old midfielder's profile reached new heights this summer following an exceptional campaign with the Egypt national team at the FIFA World Cup 2026 where his dominant performances in the middle of the park attracted widespread continental and regional interest.
