Thierry Henry's strong words about Spain after their 2026 World Cup triumph

In his interview with AS, Thierry Henry was full of praise for Spain after their triumph at the 2026 World Cup.

Questioned by AS, Thierry Henry considers Spain to have been the best team at the 2026 World Cup. “The team is the star,” he declared, highlighting its work ethic, identity and ability to put the collective ahead of individual talent. For the Frenchman, La Roja’s final victory is beyond dispute: “the best team won the World Cup. It was a demonstration of strength.”

Thierry Henry highlighted Spain’s mastery without the ball. He believes that very few shots on target were conceded during the competition thanks to the pressing and the team’s ability to keep opponents away from goal. “Spain dominated with and without the ball. It’s a delight to watch,” he explained.

According to the Arsenal legend, the current generation may make it easier to appreciate the strength of Spain’s collective than the one featuring Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol and Sergio Ramos, whose individual talents had sometimes overshadowed the role of the system.
