Ballon d'Or 2026: best coach, Rodri has made his choice

Winner of the 2026 World Cup and named the tournament's best player, Rodri is nevertheless not among the leading favourites for the ultimate individual award. However, the Spaniard knows who should win it and even who is likely to be named coach of the year.

Asked who should be named the best coach, Rodri did not hesitate to choose Luis De la Fuente. "Luis De la Fuente deserves it. The journey he has been on to build this team… You win the World Cup two years later," he told Cope.

Rodri then recalled the emotion he felt when he was crowned the world's best player in 2024: "The joy the Ballon d'Or brought me was incredible; it makes you part of history; seeing that little ball shine is priceless; when doubts arise, you look at it".
